Gertrude E. O’Neill, “Trudy,” age 89, of Swansea, passed away October 30, 2013 in Country Gardens Skilled Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. Born in Bridgeport, Connecticut, a daughter of the late John and Gertrude (Foster) O’Neill, she had been a resident of Swansea since 1942.
A graduate of Roger Ludlow High School in Fairfield, CT, she also graduated from Weylister Jr. College, class of 1942. She worked as a Medical Secretary for 45 years before retiring in 1989.
Surviving: sister-in-law; Roberta O’Neill of East Bridgewater, two nieces; Gay Holderried and her husband Leo of Medfield, MA, Patricia Parker and her husband Louis of Shelton, CT, and one nephew; John O’Neill of Ansonia, CT, several great-nieces and nephews, and her dear friend and Pastor, Reverend Robert Sargent. She was sister of the late George, John, Arthur, and Edith O’Neill and Emily Verril.
Her Funeral will be held Saturday, November 2, 2013 at 10 AM in the WARING-SULLIVAN HOME OF MEMORIAL TRIBUTE at BIRCHCREST, 189 Gardner’s Neck Rd., Swansea. Visiting hours prior to her service from 9-10 AM. Flowers welcome or contributions in her honor may be made to the South Swansea Baptist Church, 953 Gardner’s Neck Rd., Swansea, MA 02777.
