Grace H. (Riley) Heywood, age 86, passed away August 3, 2018 at Brandon Woods - New Bedford after a long illness. She was the wife of the late Albert Heywood, Jr. with whom she shared 54 years of marriage.
Born in Fall River, she was the daughter of the late John W. Riley and Mary (Meehan) Riley. She was a graduate of Durfee High School and attended Bristol Community College for Business Courses.
Grace worked as an inspector at Firestone where she met Albert, she also worked as an inspector at Raytheon and she was well known, as the bookkeeper, at Diman Regional Vocational Technical High School for 20 years. Beloved wife, mother and grandmother who enjoyed spending time with family and friends.
Survivors include two sons; Brian C. Heywood and his wife Nancy of Acushnet, Albert K. Heywood and his wife Cheryl of North Carolina, five grandchildren; Amy Belicki and her husband Matt, Tiffany Sanciano and her husband Pete, Melissa Kearney and her husband Rob, William Heywood, Andrew Heywood and his wife Desiree, five great-grandchildren; Harrison and Emilia Kearney, Alex and Martin Belicki, Colton Heywood, a brother Jack Riley of Florida, two sisters; Maureen Phelan and her husband Jack and Marilyn Chaves and her husband Louis all of Somerset and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by five siblings; Doris Lingard, Beverly Bettencourt, Mary Lou McGoven, Mickey Riley and Karen Riley.
The family wishes to thank Marsha for allowing Grace to stay in her home for as long as possible. They also extend their thanks for the loving care provided for their mom by Atria Assisted Living, Brandon Woods of New Bedford and Hospice.
Her visitation will be held on Thursday, August 9, 2018 from 6:00 to 8:00PM in Waring-Sullivan Home at Birchcrest, 189 Gardners Neck Road, Swansea. A funeral service will be held on Friday in the funeral home at 11:00 AM. Burial to follow at Mount Hope Cemetery, Swansea.
