

Born in Fall River, she was the daughter of the late William A. and Margaret (Price) Edward.
Honora was raised in Sacred Heart Parish and attended their elementary school and Sacred Heart Academy for high school. She obtained her Bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education from Bridgewater University and her Master’s degree in Education from Rhode Island College. Honora was a Kindergarten Teacher at the James Tansey Elementary School from 1971 to 2007. She remained there for one extra year as a substitute teacher before moving on to teach the second grade at St. Peter and Paul School. Honora was an active participant in kindergarten curriculum development throughout her career.
A former member of St. Michael’s Parish, Honora was a Eucharistic Minister and taught religious education. She was a current member of St. Francis of Assisi Church in Swansea. Honora loved to go shopping and thoroughly enjoyed her weekly lunches with ‘the ladies of the round table.’
She is survived by one daughter, Megan McCaughey, age 35, of Swansea; three siblings, Mary Burgess of Swansea, William A. Edward, Jr. and his wife Cheryl of Swansea and John Edward and his wife Cindy McLain of Chelmsford as well as several nieces, nephews and godchildren.
Her Funeral Service will be held on Wednesday, February 2, 2022 at 9:00 AM in the Waring-Sullivan Home at Birchcrest, 189 Gardners Neck Rd, Swansea followed by a Funeral Mass at 10:00 AM in St. Francis of Assisi Church, 530 Gardners Neck Rd, Swansea. Burial in St. Patrick’s Cemetery, Fall River. Relatives and friends are invited and are encouraged to wear masks to protect those that are vulnerable.
