Born in Mamaroneck, New York a son of Joan (Schmitterer) Burns of Georgia and the late Dr. John F. Burns, Jr., he had been a long time area resident having lived in Swansea for the past 3 years. Mr. Burns was a 1977 graduate of the Hackley School in Tarrytown, New York and attended the University of Colorado at Boulder and State University College at Oswego, New York.
He worked all his life as a manager at Brewers Sakonnet Marina in Portsmouth, Rhode Island was a member of the Sportsman Club of Portsmouth, enjoyed woodworking, hayrides, and working with his hands.
In addition to his mother and former wife he is survived by his son, Brandon J. Burns and his girlfriend Stacy Gonsalves of Rehoboth, daughter Mackenzie A. Burns of East Providence, son Caleb J. DeMoranville and daughter Skylar B. DeMoranville and their mother Kerry DeMoranville all of Swansea, twin-sisters Michelle Fitzpatrick and her husband Paul of Fairfield, CT and Nadine Heine and her husband David of Raleigh, NC, three nieces and one nephew.
His Requiem Eucharist will be held Saturday, May 22, 2010 at 12NOONin Christ Episcopal Church, 57 Main Street, Swansea. Arrangements are in the care of the WARING-SULLIVAN HOME OF MEMORIAL TRIBUTE at BIRCHCREST, Swansea.
