

Born in Boston, the daughter of the late Donald and Hazel (Kilbourne) Stockbarger, she was a graduate of Belmont High School, Bradford Jr. College, Elliott –Pearson School, and received her Bachelor’s Degree from Boston University.
She was a writer, editor, and columnist in the horticultural field for many publications including the Boston Sunday Globe, Arnoldia for the Arnold Arboretum, and Horticulture Magazine.
She was an active volunteer for the Faxon Animal Care and Adoption Center, Swansea Library and Garden Club, Belmont Garden Club, was a founding member of the Swansea Land Trust, a member of the Fortnighly Club and the Fall River Women’s Union and on the Amateur Horticultural Committee for the New England Spring Flower Show. A lover of birds and nature, she enjoyed traveling, sailing and owning her 4 Pembroke Welsh Corgi dogs.
Jeanne is survived by her daughter Karen Wadleigh and her husband William Manseau of Wilbraham, MA; her four grandchildren Sarah Pelland, Christina “CC” Pelland, Alexandra Manseau and Kenleigh Manseau; and a brother Donald Stockbarger. She was also the mother of the late Gregg R. Wadleigh.
Her Memorial Service will be held Thursday, October 8, 2015 at 4 PM in the Waring-Sullivan Home of Memorial Tribute at Birchcrest, 189 Gardners Neck Rd., Swansea. Her family will receive friends from 2 – 4PM in the Funeral Home prior to her Service.
