

Born in Fall River, son of Jeanne (Martin) Paulhus of Swansea and the late Arthur R. Paulhus, he was a 1968 graduate of Joseph Case High School and also attended Johnson and Wales University.
John was a Navy Veteran, serving in Washington DC, Spain, and Newport, RI.
In 1993 John received the Hometown Hero Award for his volunteerism with the Hospice Outreach Program. John was recognized for his selfless care to individuals and their families facing life threatening illnesses. He also volunteered for many years for the Citizen Scholarship Foundation. He was employed by the Fall River Savings Bank, was owner of Diamond Jack’s Dance Hall and Saloon, and was currently an employee of Sam’s Club in Seekonk, MA.
He enjoyed cross –stitching, country and western dancing, traveling and spending time with his family and friends.
Surviving in addition to his wife and mother: daughter Amy J. Paulhus of Swansea, two sisters; Nancy Paulhus and Lisa Paulhus both of Swansea, two brothers Daniel Paulhus of Swansea and William Paulhus of New Bedford, one nephew Nathan A. Paulhus of Swansea. He was the great uncle of Ryan and Emma Paulhus of Rehoboth. John was the brother of the late Dr. Lawrence R. Paulhus and nephew of the late Helen A. Reagan.
Funeral Saturday, Aug 6, 2011 at 9AM from the WARING-SULLIVAN HOME OF MEMORIAL TRIBUTE AT BIRCHCREST 189 Gardner’s Neck Road Swansea followed by a funeral mass at 10AM in St. Louis de France Church 56 Buffington St. Swansea. Burial will be private. Visitation Friday 4-8PM. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made in John’s name to the Helen A. Reagan and Dr. Lawrence R.
