Born in Taunton, a son of the late Eugene and Mary (Conroy) Gauvin, he spent his youth in Fall River moving to Swansea over 50 years ago.
A construction worker, he was a heavy equipment operator for many years and a member of the IUOE Local 57 Union. He also was a school bus driver for the town of Swansea for 10 years retiring in 2012.
A United States Air Force Veteran, he served during World War II. Mr. Gauvin loved to camp and was a member of the East End Sportsmans Club in Fall River.
Surviving in addition to his wife: seven children: Joseph “Jody”, Jay, Cathy, Cheryl, Daniel, James and Thomas, sister: Theresa Plunket, thirteen grandchildren, twelve great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews. He was brother of the late Wilfred Gauvin.
His funeral will be held Monday, September 9, 2013 at 11 AM in the WARING-SULLIVAN HOME OF MEMORIAL TRIBUTE at BIRCHCREST, 189 Gardners Neck Rd., Swansea. Visiting hours Sunday 1-4 PM.
