Kurt was a man of many talents!  We were fortunate to have  Karen and Kurt as neighbors when we bought our first home in Barrington.  I had the privilege of working with Karen and Kurt at their gift shop Hickory Lane.  I couldn’t believe he could actually fix cuckoo clocks among other things.  I have so many fond memories of raising our young families together.  Kurt had a beautiful smile and positive outlook on life.   His family was his greatest love and he had so much to be proud of.   Thank you for the beautiful memories! 


I got to know Kurt through cycling.  We rode together for many years at 5:30 am in Barrington. 

He always showed up with a smile, the kindest words, and strong legs.  He would giggle along with us through the ride, until we found a hill where we had to preserve our giggle breath to keep up with him to the top!  

His unfailingly positive attitude, punishing abilities, and smiling eyes made every ride better.

I knew Kurt when I was in house counsel at BCG. Kurt was kind, professional, with a wonderful sense of humor. He made work a better place. He will he missed. My deepest condolences to Kurt’s family and friends.  

Honestly, one of the greatest, friendliest, kindest colleagues I have ever had the pleasure to work with.  He was already missed in his absence at work.  Now he will be missed in his absence from the world.

Our family is so saddened to learn of Kurt's passing.  I have so many fun memories of growing up together in Kent Heights; and in every one of those memories, Kurt is wearing the biggest smile. So sorry to hear of this news.  I’ve worked with Kurt in the past on various projects and he was always so helpful, supportive and genuine.  My condolences and prayers go out to his family.  He will be missed.

We are so sorry to hear about the passing of Kurt. He was a great neighbor here in Barrington. We enjoyed our friendly chats at the bus stop while waiting to put our children on the school bus. We’re saddened that his life was cut so short. Our thoughts and prayers to you Karen and to your family.

Karen and family,

So very sorry for your loss. So many memories of Kurt and Karen, along with your precious two girls.  I followed in your foot steps with the naming of our kids with the “K” tradition.  Even naming our dogs with K’s.  Very grateful for Kurt making our windowsills for our house.  He was always working on something. I remember him taking the power tools outside at your house in Barrington as to not wake Kara. The support he gave you when you opened the gift store. The store was named after your street 

I was very grateful for allowing me to invade your house at night, once a week while Keith was working. Kurt was always gracious in our girls nights.  I always felt joy and happiness between you two.  It must be a huge loss for you. My condolences to you and all that loved him.  Hugs.

Karen, I remember you, Kurt and your Mom Terri. It was my pleasure to work with all of you at NHD in Woonsocket. Kurt was a caring person and a real good worker. He is remembered by many as a caring man. Please tell your Mom I have found memories of her and you. May Kurt have eternal peace. 

Kurt and I were good friends back in the day. We drove his 1973 Mustang Mach 1 down to Virginia to visit his brother one summer.  We spent a lot of time hanging out and carousing together. Eventually we lost touch as people often do but I have many fond memories of my friend Kurt.  My sympathies to Karen and their kids, my friend Eric, Mr. Schnabel, and the rest of the Schnabel family.

I worked with Kurt for many years at BCG.  He was one of the kindest people I ever met.  He always had a positive outlook, no matter what the situation.  We formed a walking group during lunch hours and a number of us would brave the rain, snow or sun to get out of the office for a while during the day.  Kurt would always give me wonderful advice about my daughter, since he had gone through many of the same things with his girls.  A truly wonderful person.  He will be missed.

Hearts and prayers for the family.  Sorry for the loss.

I will always remember Kurt not only as a great guy and rider, but also as an inspiration to all that knew him. He remained absolutely positive throughout his ordeal. Kurt was a source of strength to me personally as I dealt with my own cancer diagnosis. I will miss his quick smile and good humor.
