Linda M. Saldivar

Linda M. (Dias) Saldivar, “Kanani”, age 67, of Swansea, passed away Saturday, November 5, 2011 in Charlton Memorial Hospital. She was the wife of Richard T. Saldivar to whom she had been married for the past 32 years.

Born in Pawtucket, Rhode Island, she was the daughter of the late Antone and Francelina (Machado) Dias. She spent her youth in Somerset and Swansea, lived in California for many years, before returning to Swansea in 2003.

A 1962 graduate of Case High School, she worked as an esthetician and cosmetologist in Walnut Creek, California. She also worked at Scripps Institute of Oceanography in La Jolla, California until 1987.

She enjoyed singing, shopping, spending time with her children and grandchildren, traveling, reading, and crafts.

In addition to her husband she is survived by four daughters; Lisa Sands and her husband John of Garnet Valley, PA, Lori Beezy of San Diego, CA, Sonja MacGregor and her husband Nicholas of Morpeth, England, April Holt and her husband Joseph of Visalia, CA, one son; Rick Saldivar and his wife Laura of San Diego, CA, one brother; Daniel R. Dias of Swansea, seven grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

Her Funeral will be held Wednesday, November 9, 2011 at 10:00AM from the WARING-SULLIVAN HOME OF MEMORIAL TRIBUTE at BIRCHCREST 189 Gardners Neck Road Swansea, followed by a Funeral Mass at 11:00AM in St. Dominic’s Church 1277 G.A.R. Highway, Swansea. Visiting hours Tuesday from 5:00 to 8:00PM. Contributions in her honor may be made to the Jimmy Fund at the Dana Farber Cancer Institute 10 Brookline Place West 6th Floor Brookline, MA 02445. Burial in Swansea.
