

Born in Somerset, Massachusetts a daughter of the late George H. and Ella Hazel (McKay) Cottell, she was a Somerset resident for many years. A graduate of BMC Durfee High School, class of 1941 and later graduated from Wilfred Academy of Cosmetology; Louise owned a beauty salon for forty years, retiring in 1998.
For several years she was an active member of the First Congregational Church of Fall River, Massachusetts and served on the Board of Deacons and several committees. She played an important role in the leadership of the church during her tenure as deacon.
An avid sports enthusiast, she was a loyal Patriots fan. In addition, she was an active and accomplished participant in tennis and golf. She was a member of Wanuemetonomy Golf Club. A member of Baker’s Beach Club of Westport, Massachusetts for many decades, she enjoyed spending time with her family and friends, creating memories at her favorite beach that lasted a lifetime.
She is survived by two daughters, Donna R. Hoyt and husband Garry of Newport and Janet L. Robinson of Newport and New York City. She was the sister of the late Dorothy C. Pickering, Hazel C. Pearson and Irene C. Steele. She is survived by three step-grandchildren, Mary C. Brittingham, Jeffrey T. and Eric G. Hoyt and their families.
When her three sisters passed away, she served as a source of inspiration, guidance and love to her many cherished nieces and nephews and their extended families. They are: Judith P. Clow, Joan P. Freitas, Dorothy P. Balch, Kenneth Pickering, Donald Pickering, James T.M. Pearson, III, the late Robert Pearson, Allan Pearson and George Steele.
She will be greatly missed by close relatives in Illinois and Nevada, Maurice and Claire Rottmann and their three children, Ross Rottmann, Jan R. Gilbert, and Kim R. Redding and their families.
Services were private. Reverend Dr. Robert P. Lawrence officiated.
