

Born in New Bedford, a daughter of the late Thomas and Elizabeth (Parent) Morency, she spent her youth in New Bedford, moving to Somerset in 1969. She was a graduate of Holy Name High School in New Bedford, Class of 1939 and the former Truesdale Nursing School, Class of 1941. An RN, she worked for Catholic Memorial Home in Fall River for many years, retiring in 1986. Prior to that she had been a Nursing Home Inspector for the Commonwealth of Massachusetts. A United States Navy Veteran, she served as an RN during World War II. She was a communicant of St. Patrick’s Church in Somerset and had been the organist for Our Lady of Fatima Church – formerly St. Therese’s Chapel- in New Bedford for 20 years. Among her many hobbies and interests were painting, knitting and crocheting, crossword puzzles, gardening and music.
Surviving are 5 sons: Thomas Robitaille and his wife Jamie of Hanson, MA, Dr. Philip Robitaille and his wife Lynne of Somerset, Daniel Robitaille and his wife Bonnie of Fall River, William Robitaille and his wife Nancy of Natick, MA, Adam Robitaille and his wife Kimberly of Pawtucket, RI; 2 brothers Marcel Morency of New Bedford and Simon Morency of York Harbor, ME; 6 grandchildren Dylan Wright, Nicole Parent Medeiros and her husband Michael, Danielle, Julie, and James Robitaille, Michael Robitaille and his wife Melissa; and several nieces and nephews. She was sister of the late Jacques Morency.
Visiting hours Wednesday March 16, 2011 from 4-8 PM in the WARING-SULLIVAN HOME OF MEMORIAL TRIBUTE AT BIRCHCREST, 189 Gardners Neck Rd., Swansea. Her funeral will be held Thursday, March 17, 2011 at 11:00 AM in St. Patrick’s Church, 306 South St., Somerset. Relatives and friends invited. Contributions in her honor may be made to Forever Paws, 300 Lynwood St., Fall River, MA 02721. Burial in St. Patrick’s Cemetery, Somerset.
