

Mark R. Bedard, age 69, of Swansea, passed away Saturday, January 3, 2026, at his residence with his wife by his side. He was the husband of Denise M. (Echard) Bedard to whom he had been married for the past 46 years.
Born in Fall River, a son of the late Maurice and Helen (Maher) Bedard, he lived in Fall River for many years prior to moving to Swansea thirty-five years ago. He was a longtime member of Eastend Sportsman Club where he enjoyed many nights by the fire, horseshoes on Friday nights and all sorts of merriment and fun. BPOE
A graduate of Diman Regional Vocational Technical High School, Class of 1974, he worked at Quaker Fabrics for thirty years, and after obtaining his Class II fireman license through the state of Massachusetts, he made the difficult decision to begin another career as a Boiler operator. He began working at Sturdy Memorial Hospital. He worked both in their Maintenance department and eventually retiring from the Boiler room.
Always active, Mark enjoyed many sports activities over the years, which changed as he got older. He played softball for many teams, as well as bowling teams. He really enjoyed entering softball and bowling tournaments that allowed him and his wife to travel and create many lifelong friendships. In his older years, and eventually retirement years, he enjoyed playing golf, also entering tournaments to support some worthy causes and spend time with friends that are family. Pool was another sport Mark enjoyed, playing on a league and attending tournaments with a younger set of friends.
His favorite times, however were spent with his wife, sons and grandchildren whom he adored. He loved his late dog Dallas and will truly be missed by his Border Collie Mix, Archie.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by two sons, David Bedard and his wife Shannon of Fall River, Eric Bedard and his wife Johnna of East Lyme, CT; four grandchildren, Skyla, Parker, Wyatt and Paxton; four siblings, Virginia Niemiec and her husband Jack of CA, Christine Donovan and her husband Neil of Fall River, Gerald Bedard and his partner Shirley of Fall River, Dianne Freitas of Wareham; sister-in-law Carol Ventura of Fall River and many nieces and nephews. He was the brother of the late Kathleen Goyette and Eleanor Bedard.
His Visitation will be held on Monday, January 12, 2026, from 4:00 to 7:00PM in the Waring-Sullivan Home at Birchcrest, 189 Gardners Neck Rd., Swansea. Relatives and friends invited. Contributions in his honor may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105 or to the Dana Farber Cancer Institute, P.O. Box 849168, Boston, MA 02284.
