

Mary Louise Brelsford, age 86, of Swansea, passed away peacefully at home on Tuesday, August 26, 2025. Born in Providence Rhode Island, she was the daughter of the late Edward and Ruth Brelsford Dutra.
Mary dedicated her life to helping others both socially and professionally. Her career began as a graduate of St. Joseph's Nursing School and then she went on to obtain her Masters in Clinical Social Work. In her early years, Mary was the Director of Quincy Community Action Center where she was recognized as a Community Leader for her tireless efforts for the poor and disenfranchised in the Quincy area. In later years, she fulfilled her dream of becoming a Clinician who both counseled and advocated for the mentally ill. Mary volunteered and worked closely with a variety of nonprofit organizations and earned numerous awards and accolades for her time and efforts. Her compassion and dedication left a lasting impact on countless lives.
Mary had a passion for the outdoors and especially enjoyed sailing, fishing, golfing, theatre and traveling. An avid animal lover, she could often be found walking her beloved dog, Jellybean. She was cherished by all who knew her for her warmth, kindness, strength and willingness to lend a helping hand whenever needed.
She is survived by her nephews Kevin Kirkconnell and his wife Andrea and John Kirkconnell and his wife Allison and several grand nieces and nephews. She is also survived by her Cousin Maureen Henry Tessier and her children of New Hampshire, as well as Zachary and Mari Hawkins, all of whom are eternally grateful for her support and encouragement over the years, she will be missed.
Her Funeral Services will be private.
