Mary G. “Grace” Chaves, age 80 of Rehoboth, passed away on Sunday, June 7, 2020 in her residence. She was the wife of Joseph V. “Joe” Chaves Jr., to whom she had shared over 58 years of marriage. Born in Rehoboth, a daughter of the late Alfred and Mary (Baldino) Noons, she was a longtime Rehoboth resident.
She loved to laugh and always made people around her laugh with her fun-loving personality. She loved shopping in search of the perfect sale. She loved to travel and enjoy life. More than anything she loved spending time with her family.
Besides her husband, Grace is survived by her children, Richard Chaves and his wife Beth of East Greenwich, Lori Ferriera and her husband David of East Providence, Joseph Chaves and his wife Cheryl of Somerset, Debra Costa and her husband Michael of Rehoboth, and Brenda Vadeboncoeur and her husband Normand of Swansea; her grandchildren Jessica, David, Paul, Joey and his wife Hannah, Kaitlyn, Gianna, and Christian and his wife Sage, and great grandchild Noah James. She is also survived by her siblings, John Noons and his partner Sally Martin of Rehoboth, Louise Fortin of Rehoboth, Helen DelSignore and her husband Peter of Cranston, RI, Richard Noons and his wife Jean of North Dighton, MA, and her sister-in-law Nancy Noons of Rehoboth and many nieces and nephews. She is predeceased by her brother Robert Noons and brother-in-law, Donald Fortin.
Due to current restrictions on public gatherings, Grace’s funeral services will be private for the immediate family. In lieu of flowers, contributions in her honor may be made to, St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105. Her arrangements are in the care of Waring-Sullivan Home at Birchcrest, Swansea.
