

Matthew P. Kochan, age 88, of Swansea, died Sunday, January 30, 2011 in Charlton Memorial Hospital surrounded by his loving family. He was the husband of Josephine M. (Andrewseski) Kochan to whom he has been married for the past 66 years.
Born in Fall River, a son of the late Joseph and Catherine (Kulpa) Kochan, he lived in Fall River before moving to Swansea 58 years ago.
A graduate of B.M.C. Durfee High School, he was a World War II Veteran of the United States Army Air Force 8th Division serving as a B17 Tailgunner in 35 missions. He worked as a Master Machinist at the former FulFlex Incorporated in Bristol for 25 years before retiring in 1985.
He was a handy man who enjoyed fishing, boating, and most of all spending time with his family.
In addition to his wife he is survived by two daughters, Barbara P. Kochan of Swansea, Shirley Daynard of Atkinson, NH, two sons, Matthew J. Kochan and his wife Valerie of Somerset, and Theodore M. Kochan and his wife Sharon of Riverside, RI, six grandsons, and several nieces and nephews.
His Funeral will be held Friday, February 4, 2011 at 8:00 AM from the WARING-SULLIVAN HOME OF MEMORIAL TRIBUTE at BIRCHCREST,189 Gardner’s Neck Rd., Swansea, followed by a Funeral Mass at 9:00AM in St. Dominic’s Church,1277 G.A.R. Highway, Swansea. Relatives and friends invited. Visiting hours Thursday from 5:00 to 8:00PM. Burial in Notre Dame Cemetery, Fall River.
