Born in Fall River, he was the son of the late Edward I. and Constance R. (Blanchette) Pettine and was a lifelong resident of Swansea.
Michael attended Johnson & Wales University, where he majored in culinary arts. During his time there, he completed an externship that took him to Alaska and Arizona, experiences that deepened his love for the food and beverage industry. He went on to work for many years in the field, serving in various roles throughout his career.
An avid outdoorsman, Michael found joy in gardening, skiing, and hiking with his dogs. He especially enjoyed the annual camping trip with his children to Normandy Farms Campground. Above all, he cherished time with family and friends, especially when gathered around a game of cards, billiards, ping-pong, or darts.
He is survived by his son, Michael R. Pettine and his wife Meredith of Billerica; his daughter, Sarah E. Carvalho and her husband Cameron of Lakeville; his brother, Thomas Pettine and his partner Deborah Rodrigues of Somerset; his sister, Linda Pettine and her partner Kevin Spitery of Swansea; and his sister-in-law, Karen Pettine of Swansea. He also leaves behind many loving nieces and nephews. He was the brother of the late Anne Marie Pettine and Edward T. “Ted” Pettine.
His visitation will be held Sunday, November 9, 2025, from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM in the Waring-Sullivan Home at Birchcrest, 189 Gardners Neck Road, Swansea followed by a memorial service at 12:00 PM. Relatives and friends are invited. Burial will be private.
