Born in Attleboro, a daughter of the late David and Ida (Poirier) Blake, she lived in Seekonk for many years and had been a resident of Swansea for 25 years.
A graduate of Pawtucket East High School, she worked at Swank in Attleboro and Taunton for 20 years. Muriel was a member of the Red Hat Society, was a very talented knitter, and an excellent cook.
She is survived by: one son, Robert E. Coyle of West Greenwich, RI; one daughter, Kathleen A. Sylvia of Seekonk; two step-daughters, Deborah Cylke (husband Tom) of Pawtucket, RI and Sandra G. Jensen (husband Warren) of Waterville, OH; five siblings, David Blake of PA, Joseph Blake of Seekonk, Donald Blake of OH, Richard Blake of Seekonk and Elaine Blake of FL; four grandchildren, Jacob Coyle and Adam, Haleigh and Austin Sylvia; five step-grandchildren, Jamie and Dana Weyker, Skyler and Lucas Cylke, and A.J. Jensen, and many nieces and nephews. She was grandmother of the late David Coyle and stepmother of the late Carol Weyker.
Her Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, July 21, 11 a.m. at Our Lady Queen of Martyrs (formerly St. Mary’s) on Coyle Drive, Seekonk, MA. Relatives and friends are invited to the service and to the Blake family reunion immediately following. Contributions in Muriel’s memory may be made to the Battleship Cove (Massachusetts) Museum which provides exhibits and services to veterans and more than 60,000 young people each year.
