Nancy Lou McCusker Heslin passed away peacefully in her sleep on December 18, 2025, leaving behind a legacy of love, laughter, generosity, and joy that will never be forgotten. She was 81 years young and a resident of Swansea, MA.
Born and raised in Darby, Pennsylvania, Nancy was the beloved daughter of John McCusker and Veronica Kelly McCusker. The sister of Patricia McCusker Pyott and Sally McCusker Abbott. She carried her strong roots and deep sense of family with her throughout her life, wherever she lived including Morrisville, Pennsylvania; Flower Mound, Texas; and Swansea, Massachusetts.
Nancy was preceded in death by her devoted and deeply loved husband, Dennis Francis Heslin, with whom she now shares eternal peace.
She was a proud and loving mother to her three children and their spouses: Nancy Heslin Jacobson (Jeff Jacobson) of Swansea, MA; Dennis Heslin (Karen Springfield Heslin) of Salem, MA; and Suzanne Heslin Miller (Dru Miller) of Middletown, PA.
Nothing brought Nancy greater joy than her grandchildren, whom she absolutely adored. She was a cherished Nana to six creative and compassionate grandchildren—Corey Jacobson, Tyler Miller, Courtney Jacobson, Ayden Miller, Mazy Miller, and Cassidy Miller—each of whom held a special place in her heart.
She is also survived by her brothers-in-law, James Heslin (Grace Heslin) and Gary Heslin (Maureen Heslin); her beloved nieces and nephews, Patricia Gale, John Pyott, Leanne Huebner, Sandy Anthony, Michael Mefford, Jimmy Heslin, Christopher Heslin, Colleen Heslin, and Lindsay Eury; and their families. She was the aunt of the late Robert Pyott.
Nancy was known for her generous spirit, infectious sense of humor, and her endless dedication to others. She volunteered her time freely, always putting people before herself. She was the life of the party famously the last one to bed and the first one up. She had a gift for bringing laughter wherever she went. Her lovable habit of mixing up words, affectionately known by her family as “Nanese,” became one of her most treasured trademarks.
She loved her senior center activities, going to the casino, playing all kinds of games, especially BINGO, going out to dinner and the movies, vacationing, spending time and laughs with her many dear friends, and family. Nancy lived fully, loved deeply, and left this world a better place just by being in it.
She will be missed beyond words and loved forever by all who were lucky enough to know her.
Her memorial service will be held Saturday, January 10, 2026, at 3:30 PM in the Waring-Sullivan Home at Birchcrest, 189 Gardners Neck Road, Swansea. Relatives and friends are invited. Visitation will be held from 1:00 PM to 3:30 PM, prior to the service. Burial will take place in Pennsylvania. A celebration of life in the Philadelphia area will be held at a later date and time to be announced.
