

Dr. Normand O. Paquin DDS, “Doc”, age 91, of Swansea formerly of Warren RI and Naples, Florida entered into eternal rest on an express elevator to heaven on Monday, November 16, 2015, with his little sister Simonne waiting to take his hand when he arrived. He was the husband of Nancy K. (Kershaw) Paquin to whom he had been married for 37 years.
Normand was born in Fall River, the son of the late Victor J. and Blanche Y. (Lariviere) Paquin, and resided in Warren, RI for many years before moving to Swansea. He was a 1941 graduate of Assumption Preparatory School in Worcester, received his Bachelor’s Degree from Providence College at the age of 19 in 1943 and earned his Doctorate from the University of Maryland, Baltimore College of Dental Surgery in 1946.
A United States Army Veteran of World War II, he held the rank of Captain until he was honorably discharged after three and a half years of service. Dr. Paquin held private practice in Fall River for 43 years until his retirement in 1991. He was a member and Past President of the Fall River and Southeastern Massachusetts Dental Societies; a Delegate and Trustee of the Massachusetts Dental Society and a member of the Northeastern Dental Society. Dr. Paquin was a volunteer instructor at Bristol Community College School of Dental Hygiene for 12 years and was a volunteer instructor with the Fall River Power Squadron.
Forever giving his time and effort back to the community to whom he served, Dr. Paquin was an active member and past President of the Kiwanis Club of Fall River for 57 years; in 1958 he was named the Outstanding Young Man of Fall River, in 1959 was named one of four Outstanding Young Men in Massachusetts and in 1984 he received the John S. Brayton Community Service Award from the Fall River Chamber of Commerce.
Dr. Paquin was the Director of the Allegro Glee Club, directing over 700 concerts in Southeastern New England. He was the former choir director at St. Christopher’s in Tiverton; charter member of the Speakers Bureau of Greater Fall River Development Corp and charter member and board of director of the Marine Museum.
In addition to his loving wife of 37 years, Normand is survived by two sons, Normand J. and Joseph V. Paquin; granddaughter, Jennifer; great-grandsons, Thomas and Mathew Gilbert; a stepdaughter, Judith Rose-Morra; and two stepsons, Jeffrey and Chris Sampson; grandsons, Jay Rose, Joshua and Jeremy Sampson; great-grandchildren Ethan, Isabella, Emma, Dylan and Hunter Sampson; sisters, Gabrielle F. Hanley, Monique Paquin and Anne Marie Pianka; a brother Richard P. Paquin, and many nieces and nephews.
Private arrangements are in the care of the Waring-Sullivan Home of Memorial Tribute at Birchcrest.
