

Roger A. Pelissier, age 86, of Polk City, FL, formerly of Swansea, passed away July 27, 2025 at the Lakeland Regional Health Medical Center. He was the loving husband of Cherie E. (Lacasse) Pelissier to whom he had been married for 60 years.
Born in Fall River, he was the son of the late Albert Pelissier and Bertha (Verville) Paquet, and stepson of the late Eugene Paquet.
Roger graduated with a master’s degree in education from Providence College in 1961 and went to work for many years as a teacher in the Fall River and Warren, RI School Department. He was a communicant of St. Dominic’s Church in Swansea where he was a Eucharistic Minister, a member of the choir, and a member of the Knights of Columbus.
He was an avid reader with a great sense of humor, reading many books over and over again for the first time. He enjoyed a good practical joke, even if he was the butt of it. Throughout his life he was a member of the Ocean Grove Good Sams Camping Club, the Bristol County Corvette Club, Somerset Rod and Gun Club, and a member of the US Coast Guard Auxiliary. He and a friend established the Fall River chapter (191) of The Mended Hearts, visiting over 2,500 cardiac patients to offer advice and comfort. He served as Cubmaster of Pack 300 Swansea of the Boy Scouts of America, receiving the St. George Medal and the Bronze Pelican. He collected buffalo statuettes, canes, and had perfected the art of the afternoon nap.
Along with his wife he is survived by his children, Lisa A. Barata of Swansea, Joseph P. Pelissier and his wife Shannon of Brooksville, FL and Charles E. Pelissier and his wife Kelly of Barrington, RI, his sister Michelle Finn of Middlebury, CT, nine grandchildren, six great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. He was the brother of the late Louise Beirne.
His funeral will be held Thursday, August 7, 2025, at 9:00 AM from the Waring-Sullivan Home at Birchcrest, 189 Gardiners Neck Rd, Swansea, followed by a funeral mass at 10:00 AM at St. Dominic Church, Swansea. Relatives and Friends are invited. Visitation will be held Wednesday, August 6, 2025, from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM. Burial will be in Vinnicum Woods Cemetery.
