Sherrie L. Souza

Sherrie L. (Holden, Grime) Souza, age 63 of Swansea, MA passed away peacefully after a long illness on Thursday, June 26, 2025. She was the wife of David Souza and beloved late husband Robert Grime Jr.

Born in New Bedford, she was the daughter of the late George and Barbara (Silvia) Holden.

Sherrie was a graduate of New Bedford Vocational High School and went on to earn her Nursing Degrees from Bristol Community College and Southeastern Massachusetts University. She started her career as a Dietary Aid, Registered Nurse, Nursing Supervisor and Assistant Director of Nursing for the Diocese of Fall River’s Sacred Heart Nursing Home. Sherrie ended her 40 plus years of service with the Diocese, retiring as the Director of Nursing at the Catholic Memorial Home in Fall River.

Among being an avid Jimmy Buffet and Van Morrison fan, she loved her sunny days on the deck and chilly days being bundled up with her dogs watching Harry Potter or science-fiction movies. She loved dancing, singing, and showing off her tambourine skills at the family Christmas parties. She never shied away from the music. She loved taking pictures and building photo albums to enjoy years later. She loved all animals but especially horses and all of her many dogs. Sherrie loved to cook and was beyond proud of her son for being a chef. She touched many lives in the Nursing Community and shaped the career paths of many health care workers of today.

Along with her husband, David, she is survived by her loving son, Hector R. Grime (and fiancée Tayler Tobine) of East Freetown, her brother Michael D. Holden (and fiancée Nicole Delmonico) of Tiverton, RI and her shih tzu, Sambuca.

Her visitation will be held Thursday, July 3, 2025, from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the Waring-Sullivan Funeral Home at Birchcrest, 189 Gardners Neck Road, Swansea, MA followed by a memorial service at 8:00 PM. Relatives and friends are invited. Burial will be private.
