

Thelma Goodwin (Chace) Haskell, age 88, of South Swansea, died Wednesday, October 27, 2010 surrounded by family at her home in Swansea. She was the wife of the former Swansea fire chief, Everett J. Haskell, and the sister of the late Candace M. Bridge.
Born in Swansea, daughter of the late Raymond Chace and Estelle (Willette) Chace, she was a lifelong resident of Swansea. Mrs. Haskell was a graduate of Case High School, class of 1940. In her youth Mrs. Haskell played guitar and was a sharpshooter on the rifle range. She was an avid reader and loved to dance. She enjoyed swimming, knitting and crocheting. For over 60 years she and friends met on Tuesday evenings for their weekly knitting club.
Mrs. Haskell volunteered at the town health clinics. She also worked at Hayes Garage, for the Swansea School Department performing hearing tests for students and at the Swansea Town Hall Nurse’s office for 20 years, retiring in 1987.
Surviving are three daughters; Patricia A. Riley of Swansea, Sandra Haskell Lord of South Deerfield, MA and her spouse, Robert Lord, and Linda Haskell of Florence, MA, and her spouse, Donald Morrison. Mrs. Haskell is also survived by four grandchildren, Christopher A. Riley, Elizabeth Lord, Catherine Lemay and Samantha Lord, two nephews, Stephen Bridge and John Clorite and one niece, Kathleen Langlois.
Her funeral will be held Saturday, October 30, 2010 at 8AM from the WARING-SULLIVAN HOME OF MEMORIAL TRIBUTE AT BIRCHCREST, 189 Gardners Neck Road, Swansea followed by a funeral mass at 9AM in St. Francis of Assisi Church, 530 Gardners Neck Road, Swansea. Visiting hours on Friday from 5-7pm. Memorial contributions in her honor may be made to Beacon Hospice 182 North main St., Fall River, MA 02720. Burial in Mt. Hope Cemetery, Swansea.
