

Born in California, a son of the late John W. and the late Helen (Russell) Tackett, he was a resident of Swansea for over 40 years.
He was proud veteran of the United States Navy having served 25 years. He achieved the rank of Senior Chief. After retiring from the U.S. Navy, he worked as an electrical engineer in Boston and Connecticut.
A dedicated volunteer at area hospitals, he also assisted Helen with community fund raising and political activities. An outstanding cook and gracious host he was also an avid reader and enjoyed classical opera, golf, boating and fishing, crossword puzzles and traveling, especially on cruises.
Bud was a devoted, caring and supportive husband. He will be remembered for his quiet nature, deep family commitment, kindness and generosity.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by one sister, Shirley Kessinger of Sacramento, CA and many nieces and nephews and his extended family. He was the brother of the late Ann Hurbace, Sandra Sieck, Bernice Brook, Don Tackett and Beverly Birdwell.
His visitation will be held on Monday, November 27, 2017 from 9:30 to 10:30AM in the Waring-Sullivan Home at Birchcrest, 189 Gardners Neck Rd., Swansea followed by a Funeral Mass at 11:00 AM in St. Dominic’s Church, 1277 G.A.R. Highway, Swansea. Contributions in his honor may be made to the Department of Veterans Services, 68 Stevens Rd., Swansea, MA 02777. Burial private.
