

William L.S. Brayton, Sr., age 88, of Somerset passed away on April 21, 2022 at his home in Somerset, MA surrounded by his loving family. He was the husband of the late Barbara Hathaway Brayton to whom he had married on December 5, 1959.
Born in New York City, on November 2, 1933 having moved to Fall River in 1941 and then to Somerset in 1959. He was the son of the late Lawton S. and Constance L. Brayton. His banking career began in 1952 at the former B M C Durfee Trust Co and continued his career at BankBoston (now Bank of America) before retiring in 1994.
Mr. Brayton served in the United States Navy and was honorably discharged in 1962. A former member of the Somerset Lions Club and a long-time member of the Colonial Navy of Massachusetts having been Commodore for 2 terms and Prizemaster for many years.
He and his wife enjoyed traveling all over the world. He loved to read books and spend time on his deck in the summer. Mr. Brayton enjoyed spending time at Barrett’s Ale House in Fall River with his long-time friends, Mr. Bill Webb and Andrea. He also enjoyed going to breakfast with his friends on a monthly basis. Mr. Brayton was very fond of his neighbors, the Lawrences’ who would bring him treats and would do chalk drawing on the driveway, paint him pictures.
Survived by: Son: William L.S. Brayton, Jr. and his wife Susan of Somerset, Granddaughter: Jessica M. Gendreau and her husband Ron of Fall River, Great Grandson: Clevante William Gilman, Sister: Cornelia B. Roche of South Chatham, MA and Uncle to her two sons Gregory B. Roche and Ryan A. Roche. He was father of the late Andrew Hathaway Brayton.
His Funeral Service will be held on Wednesday, April 27, 2022 at 11:00AM in the Waring-Sullivan Home at Birchcrest, 189 Gardners Neck Rd., Swansea. Relatives and friends invited. Visiting hours Tuesday from 4:00 to 7:00PM. Contributions in his honor may be made to St. Vincent’s Home, 2425 Highland Ave., Fall River, MA 02720. Burial in Oak Grove Cemetery, Fall River.
