Ingonish Beach

It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of our youngest brother, Donald “Donnie” Powers. Donald passed away November 27, 2010 in Buchanan Memorial Hospital with his family by his side. Born in Neils Harbour in 1961, Donald was a son of the late Frank and Frances (Doucette) Powers. Donald enjoyed skiing and doing many odd jobs in the community when needed. He was employed at the Keltic Lodge for many years, then at HomeHard Ware. Donald will be forever missed by his family. He is survived by sisters, Darlene Jordan, Trenton; Heather (Mark) MacDougall, Ingonish Beach; Peg (Francis) Barron, Ingonish; brothers, Joe Powers, Sydney; Jim (Lynda) Powers, Sydney; Wayne (Joyce) Powers, Ingonish Beach; Monty(Nancy) Powers, Sydney and many nieces, nephews and friends. Besides his parents, Donald was also predeceased by sisters, Josie Jean and Mary; brother, Stewart. Visitation will be held 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Monday and Tuesday, November 29 and 30. A funeral mass will be held 11 a.m, Wednesday, December 1 in St. Peter’s Church, Ingonish, Rev Dan MacDonald will officiate. Interment in parish cemetery. Donations in Donald’s memory may be made to the North of Smokey Palliative Care or a charity of choice.
