It is with great regret and tremendous sadness they we announce the sudden passing on Wednesday, March 20th in Sydney of our son, partner, father, brother, uncle, cousin and friend, Eric Jordan MacKinnon. Born July 7, 1981 to Grace (MacDonald) and the late John A. MacKinnon, Eric was the youngest of 8 children.
Left to mourn his passing are his Mom, Grace, his partner and best friend of 14 years, Tammy, and his girls, his “babies”, daughters, Mikaila and Jordyn and dog, Lexi, along with his brother, Alexander (Gail) and sisters, Elizabeth, Nora (David) and Natalie (Roland) and brother-in-law, Colin, numerous nieces and nephews, (many of who were his closest friends), and more great nieces and nephews, cousins and many, many friends.
Eric is predeceased by his dad, John A., his brother, Roderick and his sisters, Beverley and Gloria.
Eric had just found out he was going to be a dad again and was so excited to tell the world. In addition to the love he had for his family, especially his girls, whom he loved and adored, Eric loved fishing and hunting and spending time with his friends. When he was not fishing lobster and halibut to make a living and provide for his family he was bass fishing from his speed boat or off the wharf or the beach and ice fishing in the winters. He was also an avid hunter who would count down the days to the opening of deer hunting season every year.
The Funeral Mass will be held on Wednesday, March 27 at 2pm at St. Joseph’s Church in Dingwall with Fr. Alphonsus Iwuji officiating. Family will greet guests at church from 1 till 2pm. Memories and condolences may be forwarded to the family by visiting www.fillmoreandwhitman.com.
In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation or the Nova Scotia SPCA.
