It is with sadness of heart that we announce the passing of our father, grandfather, brother and uncle, Earl Francis Harrietha who passed away at the age of 88 at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital on Sunday, July 4, 2021.
Born in Mill Creek to the late William and Annie Harrietha.
Earl leaves behind and will be dearly missed by his children, daughter Theresa Jackson (Jim), sons Philip, Gordon (Iona) and Kelly Harrietha, his grandchildren Mellisa, Wayne and Krystal Jackson and Mark, Donald, William, Morgan and Kain Harrietha and Jordan and Brook Harrietha as well as numerous great grandchildren. He is also survived by sisters Rose, Lois (Johnny) and Ann (Billy) and brothers Melvin (Caroline), Barry (Lorraine) and Joe.
Besides his parents, Earl was predeceased by his beloved wife Cecilia (Gouthro) Harrietha and two brothers Dan and Bill.
He also enjoyed being a cub leader for many years as his sons grew. He retired back to Cape Breton in 1994 where he enjoyed the remainder of his life. Earl was also a longtime member of St. Joseph’s Parish, where he served as a deacon.
Visitation will take place at Fillmore & Whitman Funeral Home, 8 Clyde Ave., Sydney Mines from 5 until 8pm on Thursday, July 8, 2021 with a Funeral Mass taking place at St. Joseph’s Church, Little Bras d’Or at 10:30am on Friday, July 9 with Fr. Godwin Obike officiating. Interment to follow in the Parish Cemetery. The service will be livestreamed on Fillmore & Whitman’s Facebook page for those unable to attend.
