Alder Point

It is with Broken hearts and profound sadness that we announce the passing of our parents, Michelle (Stubbert) & Freeman Erickson, on September 27 & 28, 2015 in Fort McMurray, Alberta.

Michelle was born in Sydney Mines and was the daughter of Garland (Jones) and Kenneth Les Stubbert. Freeman was born in Alder Point, and was the son of Millie (Theriault) and the late Vincent Erickson.

Michelle and Freeman were each other's best friend and died as they lived; always together. They provided unconditional love, support and laughter to their family. They leave a hole which cannot be filled. They loved the water and spent endless hours at the Alder Point Warf. We will remember them whenever we hear waves breaking on the shore.

Michelle & Freeman are survived by the lights of their lives, children, Brandon, Michelle and Kenneth, all of Alder Point. They were proud and adoring grandparents to their precious grandchildren Riley Jace and Emily Renee. Besides her parents, Michelle is also survived by her siblings Susan (Barry) Samways, AB, Marlene (Gervis) Hall and Garlie LeBlanc-Stubbert both of Sydney Mines, as well as many nieces and nephews. Besides his mother, Freeman is also survived by siblings Ronnie Fraser, Lenny Fraser both of Alder Point and Linda (Bernie) LeBlanc, ON, as well as nieces and nephews.

Michelle was predeceased by her two brothers Sheldon Wayne and Kenneth (Les) as well as Garfield and Mabel Jones, Peter Stubbert, Lucinda Stubbert and Sheldon Jones. Besides his father, Freeman was predeceased by Evelyn (LeBlanc) and Wilbert Theriault, Anne (McCready) and Harry Erickson, and Adele Fraser.

Funeral service for Michelle & Freeman will be held Tuesday October 6 at 3pm at the John J. Nugent Firemans Center, 1 Elliot Street, Sydney Mines with burial and reception to follow.

Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Fillmore & Whitman Funeral Home, 10 Clyde Avenue, Sydney Mines. Memorial donations in memory may be directed to the Cape Breton Regional Cancer Care Center or a charity of choice.
