

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our father, grandfather and uncle, Hepburn Reid, age 93, on Friday Nov 10, 2017, surrounded by family at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital, Palliative Care Unit.
Born in North Sydney on Nov 3, 1924, He was the son of the late Thomas Reid and Helen (Downy) Reid. Hepburn worked in the Princess Mine and then Marine Atlantic as a Stevedore. He was a WWII Veteran and was recognized for the Liberation of Holland. He was the youngest of 10 siblings.
Hepburn is survived by his 6 children, Tom (Marion) Reid, Jack (Bev) Reid, Charlie (Wendy) Reid, Kevin (Florence) Reid, Debbie (Sandy) Bell, Reg (Alison) Reid, as well as 11 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren who loved him dearly and whom he adored.
Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his wife Doris Reid, daughter Brenda, granddaughter Alecia, sisters, Kate, Sarah, Charlotte, Maggie, Nellie, Jean, Lizzie, Nina and brother Robert.
The family would like to send our heartfelt thanks to Dr. Brendan McCarville, the amazing nurses and the wonderful volunteers at the Palliative Care Unit of the Cape Breton Regional Hospital.
Funeral Service will be at 2pm on Monday Nov 13, 2017 at Fillmore & Whitman Funeral Home, 8 Clyde Avenue, Sydney Mines, with Rev. Nick Phillips officiating. At Hepburn’s request, we ask that no flowers be sent. Instead, if desired, donations can be made in his memory to the Palliative Care Unit at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital.
