80 – Ingonish Centre
It is with profound sadness that we the family, announce the passing of our wonderful Mom and best friend, on August 30, 2013, at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital, Sydney, surrounded by her loving family.
Born in Sydney, a daughter of the late Ada and Colin MacVicar. She married the love of her life, John James, and together raised seven children. Mom was known for her quick wit, great sense of humor and her ability to tell it like it is. A devoted mother, her greatest joy in life was spending time with and being surrounded by her family. Mom loved children, laughter, good food and her ‘cup of tea’. She was an avid reader of real life events, history and local culture. In recent years, she never missed her 9 pm episode of Nancy Grace!
Peggy is survived by daughters Ann Marie (Tom), Edmonton; Nancy, Albert Bridge; Mia (Bobby), Halifax; sons, Allan (Corien), Rimbey, AB; Peter, Sydney; and Robert (Tina), Tarbotvale; her special grandchildren, Olivia and Emily, John-James, Karla, Michael, Wendy, Kevin, Glenn, Dylan and Alex; great grandchildren, MacKenzie, Alena and Declan, Evan, Alex and Savannah and by many nieces and nephews. Also survived by sisters Marilyn and Betty, brother Lawrence, sisters-in-law Caddy and Kay.
She was predeceased by her loving husband James and precious son, Joseph.
A heartfelt thank you to all the staff at Buchanan Memorial Hospital, Cape Breton Regional Palliative Care nurses and Dr. Mary Ann Campbell.
