It is with broken hearts that we, the family of Margaret Rose “Peggy” MacKinnon announce her passing at Buchanan Memorial Hospital on Friday, June 26th.2020. She was born in Black Point on April 4, 1939 into a family of 14 children, to John Alexander MacKinnon and Annie Pauline (MacKinnon). Left to mourn her passing are her sons, William Roger (Annaleta), Leo Francis (Marie), Peter Dale (Tammy) and Lee Storm (Pauline); her grandchildren Ashley (Melissa), Luke, Rosalie (Joseph), Miranda (Josh), Angela (Elliot), David Lee (Shauna), Patrice, Gracie (Scott), Rory, Katelynn and Emily; and great-grandchildren Kiera, Georgia, Kingston, Easton, Sebastian, Piper, Cami, Ivy and Harley. She is also survived by her brothers John Patrick MacKinnon (Alice) and Lee MacKinnon (Sandra); adopted siblings Atlantia Mackinnon and Denena MacLellan as well as numerous nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband Leo Angus MacKinnon, two sons John Patrick MacKinnon and Alan David MacKinnon, and a daughter who died at birth. She lived her adult life on South Ridge Road as a fixture of the community, being active in her church and especially the St. Andrews Restoration Committee in Bay St. Lawrence. She spent the last year and a half of her life at the Alex Capstick Manor in Dingwall where she added to her circle of friends. Margaret could regularly be seen working on her yard and driving around in her convertible. She was rarely seen without at least one grandchild in tow. Many Thanks to the doctors and nursing staff at the Buchanan Memorial Hospital for their kindness and attentiveness that they have shown to our mother that will never be forgotten. Cremation has taken place under the care and direction of Fillmore & Whitman Funeral Home. A small graveside service will be held at a later date.
