Mr. Stanley William Gear

It is with heavy hearts we announce the peaceful passing of Stanley “Stan” William Gear, 72, on February 7, 2016 at home.

Born on October 15, 1943 he was a son of the Late Florence & Alex Marks. Stanley was employed with, and retired from Devco.

Stanley is survived by his loving wife, Thelma, daughters Bernadette (Joe Taylor), Donalda (David Coakley) and Laurie Ann (Wayne McGean), son Stanley (Hughena) Gear, sisters Alice Brown, Miriam Ferguson, Florence Caldwell and brother Alexander Marks as well as grandchildren Trevor, Brandy, Ryan, Jessie, Paige, Stacey, Emma. Samantha, Taylor, Nicolas, Megan, Alex and one great grandchild, Liam.

Besides his parents, Stan was predeceased by his brother, Henry Gear.

Family and friends are invited to attend the celebration of Stanley’s life which will be held on Friday February 12, 2016 at 10am at Fillmore & Whitman Funeral Home with Rev. Nick Phillips officiating. Reception to follow at the Florence Legion.

Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Fillmore & Whitman Funeral Home, 10 Clyde Avenue, Sydney Mines. Donations in memory may be directed to the Cape Breton Cancer Center.
