It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Anita Herbert, beloved wife of Howard Herbert for the past 18 years. Anita was a woman of true faith and always placed her faith in God first in her life. She always showed kindness and a happy smile to everyone she met.
Anita and Howard lived peacefully on Havenside Road in Louisbourg, where she cherished her harbour view and quiet surroundings, watching and sketching the boats coming and going in and out of the harbour. She had a great love and appreciation for nature and took great pleasure in feeding as many birds and animals as she could. She had a very special artistic talent. As a much admired professional artist, she produced countless beautiful paintings, often depicting the precious beauty she cherished around her home and surroundings. She also had a talent for music and loved playing her piano and recording her music. Anita and Howard spent all their time constantly together and she will be greatly missed, especially by her husband.
Anita was the youngest in her family of the 12 "Ouellette" siblings. Besides her husband, Howard, she is survived by three children Torben Christenson (Denmark), Paul Rennie (Toronto) and Janice Lewery (Ottawa) as well as her grandchildren. She is also survived by three sisters Inez Bonang (Dartmouth), Adeline Sampson (New Waterford) and twin sister Anna (Ottawa). Besides her parents, Andrew and Jane (McLeod) Ouellette, Anita was predeceased by her sister Yvonne and by her brothers Frankie, Junior, Louis, Jimmy, Justine, Joseph and Tony. And as a part of a large family Anita had special nieces and nephews also. She was much loved by her caring friends and neighbours.
True to her wishes, a celebration of Anita's life will be held at the Sydney Pentecostal Church, 20 Victoria Rd., Sydney. Visitation will take place on Wednesday, January 15 from 12:00 noon until 1pm. The service will follow immediately at 1pm officiated by Dr. Harlyn Purdy. Reception to follow. Internment will take place at Harbour View Cemetery, Louisbourg at a later date. Memories and condolences can be shared with the family by visiting twcurry.com. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation or to a charity of your choice.
"Peace, Healing, Shalom" - Anita's favorite blessing to all her friends.
