We are deeply saddened to announce the passing of our devoted father, Bernie MacKinnon, on December 18th, 2021, who died peacefully in his sleep. Born on October 19th, 1958, Bernie was raised in Frenchvale by his parents, the late Alexina (MacDonald) and Roland MacKinnon.
He is survived by his two loving children Bria and Blake and siblings Terry, Greg (Donna), Angus, Blair (Shannon), Jackie, Roseanne, Rollie, and Sandy, as well as his many nephews and nieces. Bernie was a car enthusiast who had a particular love for the many Audis he has owned over the years. If you were looking for him he was most likely under the hood of one of his two Audi A6s, or catching the Leafs game on TV. He had a vast working career in electrical wiring, dry walling, construction, and IT, as well as many years in accounting. He truly was a Jack of all trades. All of that took a backseat to his children which was always his number one priority in life. He loved the holiday season and always made sure to have a fully decorated (and real) tree for Christmas. Bernie was a past president of The Legion Branch 151 East Bay where he was also a life member. He will be missed greatly by his extensive family and his friends.
A Funeral Mass will be held at 10:00am on Saturday, May 28 at St. Mary’s Church in Frenchvale with Fr. Varghese officiating. Inurnment to follow in the Parish Cemetery.
