Born June 20th, 1943, she was the daughter of the late Francis and Margaret MacDonald.
Clare's passion was teaching, and she often reflected fondly on past students and coworkers. She graduated from Nova Scotia Normal College and St. FX University before teaching in Christmas Island, Antigonish, and Halifax; where she resided for many years before retiring in 1995. She was a world traveler, an avid skier, and a skilled bowler. Eventually Clare returned home to Lower Washabuck, CB, where she enjoyed playing cards, golfing, and spending time with her family; which included many days of hair salon, and cops & robbers with her nieces and nephews.
Clare was generous with her time, and enjoyed spending it with family, friends, and supporting her community in which she took great pride. She often volunteered or supported organizations in and around her community including the Highland Village, Washabuck Community Centre and Grandona Legion to name a few. She was also a lifetime supporter of the Liberal Party.
Clare was blessed with many lifelong friends and left a lasting impression on those she met.
She is survived and sorely missed by, her companion Dan Farrell, brother Roddie (Judy), brother-in-law Jimmy, nieces and nephews Juanita (Kevin), Sandy (Susan), Khristina (Jeff), Curtis (Alison), Emma (Nolan), Carter (Natasha), Kailyn, Cayden, Eilidh, Cason, Paityn, Finley, Isaac, and Jaxon.
Besides her parents Clare was predeceased by her sister and best friend, Gerry, beloved niece Kerrie, and nephews James and Sheldon in infancy.
Clare was a faithful member of Holy Rosary and St. Barra’s.
Our heartfelt gratitude goes out to the wonderful nursing staff at Victoria County Memorial Hospital, the Palliative Care team, and Dr. Tribo for her excellent care. To everyone who held Clare and our family in their thoughts and prayers, your love was felt and greatly appreciated.
