MacDonald – Daniel Vincent French Road

A Veteran of the Korean War, Daniel Vincent MacDonald, French Road, died peacefully surrounded by his family on July 4th, 2019. “When you ask a Veteran when they were last ‘over there’, know that in many cases, the real answer is ‘Every Night’.”

Dannie Vincent was born, January 23, 1934 to John (J.J.) Joe MacDonald of French Road and Annie (Thomas) MacDonald of Deep Cove.

On June 14, 1960 he married Anna ‘Carmella’ MacDonald at Sacred Heart Church, Sydney, NS and returned to French Road where he lived until the age of 85.

Dannie Vincent and Carmella had eight children; Margaret Ann, John Joseph (died in infancy), Angus Ronald, Catherine Ann, Teresa Marie (Rick), Johanna Alexina, Donelda Rose, and Dr. Daniel Alexander MacDonald (Jennifer Morrison). Dannie Vincent is survived also by his 7 grandchildren; Kenny, Daniel (Cody), Joey, Ryan, Logan, Liam and Linden; 6 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. He is also survived by his wonderful brother Angus R. (Lorraine) MacDonald, his beautiful sister Ann ‘Tootsie’ Reginato (Lorenzo d.) and sisters, Joan and Elizabeth in Ontario.

Dannie Vincent was predeceased by his loving wife Carmella, his dearly loved son John Joseph; his beautiful sister Evelyn (Tommy) Prue, much loved brother Rannie (Norma d.) MacDonald and his beloved nephew Donnie Reginato.

A funeral mass will be celebrated at St. Margaret’s of Scotland, Grand Mira on Tuesday, July 9 at 1 pm with Fr. Paul MacGillvray officiating. The remains will be received at the church at 12:00 pm. Viewing will take place until the time of funeral. Interment in the parish cemetery.

A very special thank you from the family to Dannie’s lifelong friend, Neil MacNeil.

Pops, we will miss your wit, sense of humor, wonderful stories of French Road and your love of Gaelic and everything ‘Scotchy’. Be at peace “Deddy”.

A soldier never dies, he just fades away. A testament to this is Dannie Vincent’s 4 tribunals with the Department of Veterans Affairs, fighting for his rights. He won three.

Margie, Ronnie, Ann, Teresa, Johanna, Donalda and Donnie, Although you may not know , I have loved you all of my life.

Uncle Danny, WOW, what a movie star, like my Dad(Angus), they are truly the most beautiful men I have seen. (aside from my husband) Uncle Danny had an incredible since of humor-- being serious-- I mostly did not get it--so sad for me- until I saw his beautiful smile.

I know my dad will always have a special place in his heart for his beloved brother Danny-- so to, will I, for my Uncle-Daniel Vincent Mac Donald-- Uncle Danny.

With all my heart, I love and adore you, always and forever.

I will see you, Danny, in our new life.

All my love,
Shauna- Rose ( and my husband David)Mac Donald / Dart
