It is with great sadness that we, the family announce the passing of Delphine (Del) O’Brien at home on May 7, after a long battle with cancer. She was born on August 14, 1952 to the late Gordon & Dorothy (Collins) Burry. She is survived by her loving husband Joe of 52 years; her daughters Corinne & Michelle (John D); grandchildren: Kaitlynn, Joscelynn, Archer and Royce; her sisters: Madeline and Brenda; and her brothers: Kurl, Cecil and Clyde; as well many nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents Delphine was predeceased by her brothers Eric & Brendon. Until her retirement Delphine enjoyed working many years at Cape Breton Plastics in Sydport. She was talented at crocheting which she learned from her mother and she shared this talent with many. She had an unbounding love for her family and grandchildren, where she enjoyed every moment with them.
Heartfelt thanks to the all of the staff involved in her care over the years at the Cancer Clinic , Palliative Care, Continuing Care and the dedicated nurses of the VON. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the to the Cape Breton Regional Hospital Palliative Care Unit. A Funeral Mass will be held at St. Marguerite Bourgeoys Church at 11:00am on Tuesday, May 10, with Fr. Bill Burke officiating. Interment in Resurrection Cemetery.
