Denzel James Young

It is with great sadness that we announce the sudden passing of Denzel James Young on May 3, 2025, a very loved son, brother, grandson, nephew and friend. Born on October 28, 2007 in Sydney, he was the beloved son of Hillary Francis and Patrick Young. Denzel loved playing video games, watching sports especially hockey. He attended Eskasoni High School and Sydney Academy. He enjoyed time spent with friends and family, especially at the cabin in Malagawatch. He loved animals, boxing with Red Tribe and working out. He was quiet, shy, funny and loving. Denzel will be forever loved and missed by many including his brothers Anderson, Wendal, Noel, sisters Maxine and Marissa, grandparents Maynard and Jennifer Young and Janet Peck (Bo). He will also be missed by his aunts and uncles Tonia, Audrey, Natasha, Carlann, Amy, Jasmin, Jamey, Mayna, Janae, Max, John, Lance, Earl, MJ, Nolan and Jon, great grandmother Jean Peck, godparents Jasmin & Virick Francis jr and many cousins, family & friends.

A visitation will take place at the Gabriel Centre in Eskasoni starting on Thursday, May 15 at 7pm and continuing until the Mass at Holy Family Church at 10:00am on Saturday, May 17 with Fr. Antolin Asor officiating. Interment will take place in the Parish Cemetery. Salite will take place immediately following.
