Frances Geraldine Googoo

It is with heavy hearts we announce that on September 6 2020 our mother and grandmother Frances Geraldine Googoo, 62 of Wagmatcook First Nation passed away at home surrounded by her family, following a courageous battle with lung cancer for many months. Born in Baddeck NS, she was the daughter of Late Peter Patrick and Helen (Pierro) Googoo. She was a stay at home Grandmother who raised 3 of her grandchildren full time. In her earlier years she graduated from the Nova Scotia Teachers College and was a Kindergarten teacher for Wagmatcook. She worked with the Wagmatcook Woman’s Crafters for many years alongside her sisters, where she made quilts, dream catchers and many more native crafts. She enjoyed attending the Nova Scotia Summer Games where she cheered on Team Wagmatcook with pride. She loved visiting her family, attending social events and spending time with her children and grandchildren, who will miss her dearly. She was a proud Montreal Canadiens fan and enjoyed watching her Court shows and playing her scratch tickets and bingo. She was always there when help was needed, or when her family and friends needed some advice. She welcomed everyone in to her home and made everyone feel welcome, safe and loved. She is survived by her children; Frances Helen (John), Peter Larry, Kristen Lee (Brendan), Melissa Lee and Alicia Lynn all of Wagmatcook, grandchildren; Brady, Shealynn, Sarah, Faith, Kingston, Aaliyah, Reginald, Kytori, Xevion, Tyanna, Kiora, Keneisha, Jamie, Nikkiah, Jason and Daniel (DJ), brothers; Charles Googoo Sr, Vincent Googoo Sr., Richard Googoo and Peter Daniel Googoo (Karen) all of Wagmatcook, sisters; Eunice Peck and Mary C (Tina) Googoo (Kenneth) all of Wagmatcook and Florence Googoo (Wayne) of Howie Center, godchildren; Andra, Eunice (Toon), Wilfred jr. and Dean, uncle; Francis Pierro Sr. (Anna K), aunt; Kathleen Pierro as well as many nieces, nephews and cousins. She was predeceased by her loving parents; Peter and Helen Googoo, sister; Sylvia Googoo, brother; Wilfred Googoo Sr. (Doris), two siblings who died in infancy, godparents, nephews; Dwayne Daniel Peck and Grant Googoo, nieces; Vallie Jo MacAulay, Elaine Rose Googoo, Charly Lafford-Bernard, twins Patricia And Stacy Googoo, godchild/niece; Renee Anne Peck. She touched many hearts and she will be sadly and greatly missed by her siblings, children, grandchildren, nieces and nephews, and all her cousins and friends. Visitation will start on Saturday September 12 at 5pm at the Elders Center on Fisheries Road in Wagmatcook, with a Funeral Mass on Monday September 14 at 11am Queen of the World Church, Wagmatcook with Fr. Vargheese officiating, Burial will take place at the Wagmatcook Cemetery. Memories and condolences may be shared with the family by visiting We, the Family would like to take this time to thank the Wagmatcook Heath Center, Dr. Ritter, Paramedics of the EHS, all the Dr’s and Nurses at the Victoria County Memorial Hospital, and her nurse Helen whom she had a great appreciation for.

❤Mom❤, I love you so much.. you are gonna be missed so much omg, I cant stop thinking about you mom, this is so hard to believe.. I love you so much and the kids too.. Faith, Kingston & Aaliyah will miss you so much. Thankyou so much for the signs you gave us in the pass couple days ❤ we know your okay and with your mom n dad n everyone else now❤ I'm so glad to cherish all those memories I have of us together, and with the whole family.. so many memories mom.. thankyou so much for everything in my life mom you were he best mother anybody could ask for.
