Ferris, 93, on Monday, September 13th, 2021 in Sydney, Nova Scotia surrounded by his girls.
Born in Sydney, Nova Scotia on December 25th, 1927, George was brought up in a large, loving
Lebanese family. George met the love of his life, Beverly and raised their 3 girls.
George was a barber by day, and a bartender by night at the Cedars Club. In his early years, you
could find George playing hockey on the ice or throwing a punch in the ring. Dad put his heart and
soul in everything he did. He was a lifetime member of the Knights of Columbus, Cape Breton
yoyo champion, avid bowler, exceptional tarbish player and member of the St.Joseph's choir and
Sydney Dicemen.
George spent many hours gardening and proclaiming to be a self made "horticulturist".
You could often hear Dad before you saw him, singing a chord wherever he went.
George's greatest achievement were his three girls. Whether a 6am cheerleading practice, dance
on Friday night or arriving unexpectedly in his bedtime attire Dad was always there for us.
George is survived by his daughters Kim (Joe Near) Halifax, Kelly Donovan, New Brunswick, and
Karrie (Pierre Chang) Toronto, Ontario.
He is also survived by his only living brother Johnny (Cecila) Ferris, Alberta; grandchildren Hunter, Chelsea, Jillian and Joshua along with many nieces and nephews.
George was predeceased by his parents Mark and Sadie(Jamael) Ferris, his loving wife Beverly
(McNeil). His brothers Ferris (Jake) , Ike (Issac) , Ignatius, and sister's Queenie, Frozina, Eva,
Edna and Laura.
Visitation will take place at T.W Curry from 2-4pm and 7-9pm September 16th, 2021. Funeral
mass will be held on Friday September 17th, 2021 at 11am at St. Margaret's Bourgeoys Church
in Sydney. Following the mass a reception will be held at the Cedars club.
He often reminded us how proud he was and regularly said "you girls are awfully smart."
Dad lived a long, legendary life and is now with his true love.
