Born in Barrahead, Chapel Island he was the son of the Late Matthew and Martha Lewis.
He is one of the survivors of the Indian Residential School in Shubenacadie, after having spent 10 years of his childhood there enduring the social, physical, emotional, and other abuses that have impacted his life.
Gordon was an avid outdoorsman. He was knowledgeable about both hunting and fishing, but spearing eels was his passion and area of expertise. You would often find Gordon fishing for eels, and he would share his feed with family and the community.
In the fall months, you would often find him hunting with his hunting buddies at Hunter’s Mountain. Again, Gordon’s knowledge of living off the land was instrumental in keeping the traditional hunting and fishing practices alive and well. Despite his skills as a prized fishermen and hunter, Gordon remained a humble man throughout his life.
Gordon is survived by his loving children Rebecca (Joey), Martha (Ben), Oliver, Matthew (Ella) and Emma (Christian), survived by his children’s mother (Judy) and grandchildren Lance, Jeremiah (Katelyn) , Desmond, Joseph, Luther, and Jacob, Vernon, Pavel, Wendell, Felicia, Naomi, Justine, Jemma and great-great grandchildren Brielle, Jazlynn, Clio, Vayda, Zayden and Lorenzo. His siblings Maureen Sullivan, Shirley Virden, Annette, Harriet Patsy, Marilyn, JoAnne, Russel (Jai), Elmer (Fudd) Lewis. Godchildren Roberta Isadore and Jason Pierro.
He was predeceased by wife, the late Annie Jane (Googoo) Lewis. Siblings, Wilbur Lewis, Miranda Gabriel, Janie Lewis, Pauline Lewis, John Lewis, and Edna Lewis. His children Paul John Lewis, and Sebastian Pierro, and Grand Daughter Annie Jane Elizabeth Peck.
