With profound love and gratitude, we remember the life of Greta Rose White, who passed away peacefully at the age of 86 on May 9, 2025 in Buchanan Memorial Hospital in Neils Harbour surrounded by her loving family. A devoted mother, grandmother, and naturalist, Greta lived each day with mindful presence and a heart full of positivity.
Born in New Waterford, NS, Greta dedicated her life to her family - especially her beloved daughter and grandchildren, to whom she gave her unwavering love, time, and guidance. Greta was a sanctuary of warmth, wisdom, and pure simple beauty, reflecting her deep connection to nature and her belief in living with intention.
She found joy in the rhythm of the seasons, the quiet of early mornings, and the laughter of her grandchildren. Whether she was painting crafting or reading, her love for the natural world was not just a passion, but a way of life, a lesson she gently passed on to those she held dear. Larry was the prince she had always dreamed of, and for 22 years, they shared a love that inspired everyone around them. Seeing the two of them together put you in mind of teenage love.
Even in life’s challenges, she remained grounded and resilient. Her outlook was always guided by hope, and she inspired others to seek peace in the present moment and find meaning in the everyday.
She is survived by her life partner Larry Cook, loving children; Deni-Lynn McPherson (Cory McNeil), Deborah Kahlmeier, Cynthia Morton, Glen Martin (Peg Frellick) and cherished grandchildren Chyenne McPherson ( Jake Clarke) Rhydell McPherson, Jesslynn McPherson and Braylinn McPherson, sister, Eva White ( Bob Stephen) and many more grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews as well as friends whose lives she touched with her kindness, strength, and quiet wisdom. Her legacy will live on in every act of kindness she taught us to notice, share and appreciate. Greta is predeceased by her two sons, Jimmy Martin and Robin Martin.
A celebration of life will be held with close family and friends to honor her life and spirit. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to a local Boys and Girls Club.
She lived simply, loved deeply, and left the world better than she found it.
