It is with deepest and utmost sympathy we, the family, announce the passing of our beloved father, James Joyce on July 21, 2022. Born in Sydney on August 24, 1947, he was the son of the late Alfred and Margaret (Heffernan) Joyce. He graduated from St. F. X. with a Bachelor of Business Administration and Bachelor of Education as well as being an avid badminton player while studying. He taught at the Adult Vocational Schools in Halifax, Sydney and Port Hawkesbury and was a member of the Sydney Harbour Board. He was an accountant at Highland Fisheries for almost 25 years and helped many friends and family with their taxes every year. He was known for his patient and quiet demeanor with the family but social at work, serious, kind, easy going, emotional and frugal lifestyle as well as always telling his children he just wanted them to be “Happy, healthy and financially secure.”
He was survived by his wife Elaine (Cadegan) Joyce, children Helen (Gordie) Joyce, Donnie (Carla) Joyce, Natalie (Paul) Sterbenc, grandchildren Noah Joyce and Emily Joyce, siblings Pauline (Kevin) Collins, Robert (Elaine) Joyce, and 23 nieces and nephews.
A visitation will be held at TW Curry Parkview Chapel, 755 George St., Sydney on Monday, July 25 from 6 until 9PM. A funeral service will take place on Tuesday, July 26 also from TW Curry Parkview Chapel at 11:00am with Fr. Joe MacKenzie officiating. Inurnment to follow in Forest Haven Cemetery.
