We are saddened to announce the passing of our beloved husband, father, and grandfather James Gerard MacPhee, who passed at the Cove Guest Home on Wednesday, February 3, 2021 at 78 years of age. Jim worked for many years as a crane operator at the Sydney Steel Plant. He was a big outdoor enthusiast who loved anything outdoors, camping, fishing, hiking, hunting, snowmobiling or ATVing. In later years his athleticism showed itself in his love for dancing. Jim was also known for his kindness of heart. He never would say anything unkind about anyone. Jim’s 10-year struggle with Alzheimer’s stole a lot from him and from us, his family, but the one thing that he was able to hang onto was his sense of humour. Even in the last few years, he would do little things to show he still had that great sense of humour.
Jim was predeceased by his parents, James and Annie (MacArthur), one daughter Susan and his 5 sisters Nin, Ann, Margie, Jean, and Rita and 2 brothers Joseph and Tommy.
Jim will be dearly missed by his wife of 16 years, Margaret, his children: Bob (Maryanne), Ken (Cheryl), Chris (Lisa) and Scott (Beth) and Leslie, his grandchildren: Alexandra, Maggie, Sarah, Andrew, Erin, Ian, Ryan, Kathryn, Rosie and Simon, his stepson Vincent Hanrahan (Paulette) and their son Bryden as well as brother Donnie (Anne), sister Kathleen Simpson, sister-in-law Olive, Jean Neil, mother of his children, and many nieces, nephews, and other relatives.
A Funeral Mass will take place on Saturday, February 13, 2021 at 11:00am at St. Marguerite Bourgeoys Church with Fr. Bill Burke officiating. Memories and condolences may be shared with the family by visiting www.twcurry.com. If desired, donations in Jim’s memory may be made to either the Cove Guest Home, or a charity of your choice.
