We believe his happiest times were spent growing up with his brothers Rod and Leonard in the infamous TinCan Alley in Sydney’s North End. He liked nothing more than working on vehicles in his youth or playing darts and going to dances with his friends at the French Club. During his early working career he was employed as a truck driver for various companies and was last employed at the former Central Supplies. A jack of all trades, but a master of none, he would never see his friends stuck, if they needed a hand with a project he would always be the first to show up and put his brute strength to work for them until the job was done.
He is survived by his sisters Theresa Ann and Jane, his brother Leonard (Theresa) and their children Rodd (Angie), David (Cavelle), Stephen (Megan), Michelle Gallant (Tyler), and Jennifer MacNeil (Dustin). He is also survived by 3 wonderful great nephews Austin, Dylan and Beckett. Joey was predeceased by his brothers Roddie, Lawrence, Angus (in infancy) and his sister Elizabeth. At the time we also have to mention and thank his extended family in the seniors complex (2nd Floor) at Maple Ridge Dr. for their caring and kindness to Joey while he lived there. He spoke very highly particularly of Betty, John and Sue and how you all looked after each other on that floor.
Joey received wonderful care from all the Nurses and Doctors from 3A to the I.C.U. thank you for your compassion and caring during this most difficult time for not only Joey but for us as well.
In lieu of flowers, if you wish to make a donation please do so to your local food bank or just an act of kindness to someone who could really use it especially during these trying times. Cremation has taken place, and there will be no visitation.
Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Theresa’s Church 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, September 2 with Fr. Dennis Lamey officiating. To leave a message of condolence or to share a memory with his family please visit www.twcurry.com
