It is with saddened hearts that the family of Josephine Marie MacPherson announces her passing. Josephine passed away peacefully at the age of 90 surrounded by her loving family at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital, Sydney on December 18, 2015.
Born in Sydney, she was the daughter of the late Silvie and Lena (Antonello) Sylvester.
Josephine was known as Gg and Big Nana by several of her grandchildren. She was a very active member of St. Theresa’s Church, as well as a member of the St. Theresa’s choir prior to her illness. She was a 50 year chartered member of the CWL. Josephine will leave behind many cherished memories for her grandchildren and great grandchildren with her beautiful handmade quilts and her legendary Italian spaghetti sauce who to this day no one has ever perfected her secret. She was a kind and generous person whom was always ready to lend a hand to anyone who needed assistance and a good friend to all.
She is survived by her daughters, Ann Marie Hill, Raylene (Yves) Leclerc and Marian (Mike) Silver; sons, John (Diane) and Terry (Lynn); special nephew, Robin Foret; sister, Lucy Ramey; grandchildren, J.J. Tracy, Rene, Chris, Ryan, Craig, Becky, Marc, Brandon, Aaron and Kyle; great grandchildren, Coady, Kelsey, Jade, Presley, Maxime, Sunny, Lochlan, Callen, Alexander, and Havana.
She was predeceased by her husband, Raymond MacPherson; son-in-law, Glen Hill; brother-in-law, Robert Ramey.
Donations in Josephine’s memory may be made to the Palliative Care Unit at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital or a charity of choice.
Visitation for the late Josephine MacPherson will be held 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. on Monday, December21 at T. W. Curry Parkview Chapel. Funeral mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, December 22 at St. Theresa’s Church, Sydney, Rev Dennis Lamey will officiate. Interment in Resurrection Cemetery, Sydney Forks.
