Our mother, Kathleen ‘Kay’ Smith, died peacefully on Sunday, February 3, 2013 in the loving presence of her children.

Mom was a native Cape Bretoner who dearly loved her island home. She spent her full and long life here.

Mom is survived by her six children; Dawne (Anne), Lynn Moore, Stuart Smith (Nancy), Jane (Mike), Jackie Landry and Glenn (Traceylynn). She also leaves eleven grandchildren and three great grandchildren.

Many years ago, Mom was predeceased by our father Murdock ‘Bunny’ Smith. She was also the last remaining member of her birth family, having lost her siblings, Walter, Gerry, Kevin and Jackie.

Mom’s last home was The Cove. We wish to express our deep gratitude and appreciation for the loving care she received from the exceptional staff on Skylight Unit. Their care was a final gift to our mother.

As our mother wished, there will be no visitation. A funeral mass will be celebrated on Friday, February 8, 2013 at 11 am at Our Lady of Fatima Church with Rev. Duaine Devereaux officiating. Reception in the parish hall following the mass.
