We are saddened to announce the passing of our mother Margaret (Maggie) Fogarty on Wednesday, November 4, 2020 at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital, Sydney, NS at age 93. She was born September 18, 1927 in Sydney NS, the daughter of Theophile and Fernande Leon. Mom attended Holy Angels High School and was a long time member of Sacred Heart Church. Mom had many talents. She was an accomplished seamstress and baker. A beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister, aunt and friend. Mom enjoyed going for drives with her family along the many roads of Cape Breton. Margaret was predeceased by her husband John who was a soldier in the Canadian Army. While in the Army, they travelled across Canada many times, camping throughout the country! Mom loved that life on the road where many memories were made. Besides her parents and husband, she was predeceased by son Barry in infancy, her sister Bernie Poirier and brothers Bill and Albert Leon. Mom is survived by her sister Julie MacPherson of Montreal as well as her children Bill (Averil), Johnny (Arlene), Richie (Pam), David, Ron (Anne), Kenny (Rochelle) and daughter Eileen Barteldt (Gary). Also surviving are 13 grandchildren Janice, James, David, Jennifer, Jillian, John Douglas, Alanna, Greg, Julie, Allyssa, Melanie, Ben and Kenneth as well as numerous great grandchildren, nieces, nephews and friends. Visitation will take place from 6 until 9pm on Wednesday, November 11 at TW Curry Parkview Chapel. A private family service will follow.
