Mary Bridget was a compassionate and loving Mother, Grandma and friend. She enjoyed talking on the phone with her family and friends, getting visitors and sipping on tea. She was well known for her crafts, and taught classes in Eskasoni on how to make baskets and Christmas wreaths. Mary Bridget had been making baskets and wreaths since she was a young girl and loved working with flowers to do her crafts. She also made beautiful quilts.
For many years, she travelled to Maine to work the Blueberry harvest. Mary Bridget and her husband Herman, were the lease holders for the North Eastern Blueberry Co. She also enjoyed going to St. Anne De Beaupre pilgrimage in Quebec with the community Elders.
Mary Bridget is survived by her siblings; Janet (Dwayne), Shirley, Margaret, Mary Irene, and Fran, by her children; Paul (Charlene), Rose (Nick), Margaret, and Doreen. She is also survived her godchildren; Deanna Francis, Annette Gabriel, Cheryl Ann Francis, Margaret Stevens and Andy Dennis, as well as by many grandchildren, great and great great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
Besides her parents and husband, she is predeceased by siblings; Agnes, William, John R, Noreen, foster siblings Mary Googoo and Mathew Francis, by her children; Gilbert, Herman, John, Richard and Elizabeth.
Thank you to the staff at the Regional Hospital 4D, Palliative care Doctor, Eskasoni Health Center staff, especially Jessie Jeddore and Dr. Todd, who all contributed to Mom’s care and comfort.
A visitation will be held at the Elder Center on Monday April 11, 2022 starting at 7 pm, with a Funeral Mass celebrated on Wednesday April 13, 2022 at 10:30 am at Holy Family Church with Fr. Antolin Asor officiating. A burial will follow service.
