Mary Catherine MacDonald Robertson

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our mother, Mary Robertson at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital Saturday, May 20, 2006 after a brief illness, surrounded by her loving family.

Born in Portage , Mary was the daughter of the late Eddie and Mary Jane (Campbell) MacDonald.

Mary was a member of Our Lady of Fatima parish, Sydney River, a 40 year member of Our Lady of Fatima C.W.L. and a supporter of the Association of the Marian Helpers. As well, Mary was a member of the Gaelic Society, the Ladies Auxiliary of the K.O.C., Council 1060 and an avid Tarabish player.

Mary is survived by her daughters; Bev MacLellan, East Bay, Sheila ( Dave ) Gale, Edmonton ALta, Elaine ( Donnie ) MacRae, Floral Heights, Loretta ( Gerald ) Barrington, Floral Heights, Heather ( Chuck ) Dobbin, Sydney; sons Eddie ( Catherine Anne ), Curry Street, and Gerard ( Carolyn ), Floral Heights. She also leaves to mourn her loving sister Anne Vassallo, Sydney Forks, special sister-in-law, Rita Windsor, Sydney River, Sister Lauretta Robertson, Bethany and brother-in-law, Joe Robertson, Halifax. She is also survived by 23 grandchildren and 21 great grandchildren.

Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, John William in 1984 and a daughter, Jeanette Campbell in 1990.

Mary was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister and wonderful neighbor who will be greatly missed by all.

Visitation for the late Mary Catherine Robertson was held Monday, May 22, 2006 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. in T.W. Curry Parkview Chapel. Funeral mass was celebrated Tuesday, May 23, 2006 at 11:00 a.m. in Our Lady of Fatima Church with Father Norman MacPhee officiating. Burial took place in Resurrection Cemetery.

Memorial donations may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation.
